Jay Kempf - CAD Designer
Jay Kempf is a seasoned engineering professional. He grew up mainly in western New York State, building and designing model gliders from a very early age. He soloed in a glider at Harris Hill on his 14th birthday. Kempf’s first engineering job began at the age of nineteen after a veteran engineer was impressed by how advanced his design and drafting skills were for his age due to his library of expertly hand drawn plans dating back to elementary school. His career has varied much over the years growing in responsibility in engineering departments in many industries giving him a well-sourced encyclopedia of mechanical solutions from all kinds of industries to use to create new out-of-the-box design solutions. Kempf has built and run two model airplane manufacturing businesses and consulted on structures and manufacturing planning on small UAV projects. He was an early adopter of vacuum bagged composites for competition model sailplane wings, developing one of the first electric regulated small vacuum pump kits.
